My background

Currently based in the Reno/Tahoe area, David James Marshall is a lifelong artist whose career bridges the worlds of architectural design, metal fabrication, and fine art sculpture.

Marshall's journey began at an early age with an innate draw to creativity, which was formally refined through study in sculptural art history, design, and specializing in metal design. This foundation laid the groundwork for his professional career.

Marshall established his design firm, DMOD Concepts LLC, creating interior and exterior architectural designs often featuring custom, artistic metal elements for commercial and hospitality spaces. This expertise was cemented in 2019 when he acquired a metal fabrication shop Fusion Craft Works Inc., designing and gaining oversight of the fabrication and installation of artistic architectural metalwork.

Marshall translates his technical skills into monumental art through his involvement in large-scale installations. His most recent work includes:

• Burning Man, 2019: Leading the fabrication team for the international large-scale sculpture, "Fragments" by artist Marc Ippon de Ronda.
• Burning Man, 2022: Designing and spearheading the build of the 60-foot "Playa Express" Mutant Vehicle.

Marshall's current artistic focus is his partnership with Brooke Siem in Conscious Creative Works. In this unique collaboration, Marshall utilizes his years of design and metal expertise to transform Siem's two-dimensional oil paintings into soaring, three-dimensional steel sculptures, creating enduring works of fine art for major public installations.
